Building spiral staircases in Minecraft
A spiral staircase saves space and belongs in every tower. By hand it is tedious: every step is a circle segment, wider on the outside than on the inside, and each needs enough headroom above it. VoxShaper places the steps for you and shows you every layer.
Setting the shape
The staircase is described from the inside out: the column thickness sets the middle, the stair width the steps around it. At thickness 1 the column is a single pillar of blocks, at an even thickness it is centred on a block edge. Switch it off and an open well takes its place. The height counts the layers from the ground to the top step, the turns set how often the staircase winds over that height.
With half steps every step rises half a block, so you walk up without jumping. With full blocks every step is a whole block high. To leave room for your head above every step, one turn rises at least three blocks.
Build or export
Rebuild the staircase layer by layer or download it as a schematic for Litematica, WorldEdit or the Structure Block. Put it inside a tube with a radius one larger and you have the stair tower.
